I've been wondering if I had a book in me.

I think I do. It came to me tonight. I have no idea how it's going to work, but I think it's going to be weird, and wonderful, and a wacky commentary of love, procreation, and finally growing up.

and it's not even autobiographical.

the place these characters live is slightly different than the world we live in. I suppose I'll map out the social rules of that world as a first step, maybe play around with some character voices and see who shows up. This is going to be so hard!

Oh I'd definitely read a novel you write. Is "The Truth About Love" the working title?

yes

The Truth About Love is the working title. I'm playing with the weird, proven scientific tests they've done... where a woman will choose a man they want to have a baby with, but he's not always the man they would choose to raise it. what if a society was built around that structure? the alpha males who sire first offspring, and the men whom women choose to raise them... i'm still working out how this all works in this world...

isn't that kind of what they did with women for a while? One woman gives birth but other women get called in to be the nannies and effectively raise the kids.

in a way, yes. and we do it often, today. the woman goes back to work, and someone else nurtures the child. so long as someone does!

here. a link for you (http://solomother.vox.com/library/post/has-it-been-a-while.html)

Thanks for the link! I like that he's a non-conformist. I only hope that's because he's a strong, independent thinker. I'd rather not think of him as being contrary just for the sake of being ornery.
